She teaches College Prep C/P Biology, Biology, Forensic Science and Human Anatomy& Physiology. Mrs. Ezzat has a medical degree from Cairo university and came to Socorro in 1989 with her husband who is a professor in NM Tech/computer Science. She stayed home raising their 3 boys, Omar, Sohaib and Moaaz who are currently Tech students. She started teaching at SHS and got her license in secondary science teaching in 2004. He teaches Basic Unified Science, Basic Chemistry, C/P Chemistry Mr. Kempton is originally from Las Cruces, but has lived in Arizona, Colorado, Texas, Georgia, and Hong Kong. He received training as a combat medic and respiratory therapist in the Army Reserves before graduating from New Mexico Tech with a Bachelors of Science in Basic Science, or (as he likes to say) a B.S. in B.S. with a license to teach it. He is also the author of the book Men are Scum, Women are Stupid. As an author he has had the opportunity to speak to schools and organizations in New Mexico, Colorado, Kansans, Utah, Tennessee, and South Carolina. Mr. Kempton is married and has three daughters. She has been teaching freshmen Earth Science for 4 years and a SHS teacher for 13th year. Ms. Greenwood is a graduate of SHS and received her BS from NMSU Her son, Mason, is currently in the 2nd grade. She is an avid sports, outdoor enthusiast and girls basketball head coach.

The mission of the science department is three-fold:
- To increase the scientific knowledge of students.
- To increase the curiosity of students and give them the skills needed to investigate answers to their questions so that they can become life-long learners.
- To develop in students the critical thinking skills and problem solving strategies needed to overcome future life challenges.
This course will emphasize a study of living organisms ‘structures and relationships to each other in their environments. It is a lab class It is a more detailed study of the materials than regular biology. It is recommended to for students preparing for college. It is a lab class It discusses the foundation of Forensic science and introduces integrating curriculum that includes Anthropology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Botany, Entomology and Physics. It also teaches the skills of problem solving techniques utilized in analyzing the crime scene. It is a lab class. It is the study of the structure and function of the human body and how the body systems relate to each other and the diseases affecting each. Pre-requisite is passed biology with a C or better. This course is an alternative science credit for students who are not prepared for biology or chemistry. The class will cover some biology, chemistry, physics, and earth science in a way that will help students understand basic principles. The main goal of the class is to help students understand how science shapes the world around them, and how different sciences interact to solve problems. This is a laboratory class. This course will study basic topics in chemistry, such as the atom, matter, phase changes, chemical bonding and reactions. Laboratory work will be included in the course, and students will be expected to behave maturely and follow directions. Math will also play an important role, so students should have passed Algebra I with a C or better before enrolling in this class. This class will cover the same topics as basic chemistry, but with a heavier emphasis on laboratory technique and the mathematical principles behind the concepts. Problem solving will be heavily emphasized, and students should have passed Algebra II with a B or better before enrolling in this course. The students will learn basic concepts of four basic branches of earth science: Geology, oceanography, meteorology, and astronomy that bring them an understanding of our dynamic earth and solar system. The students will develop skills of using their own curiosity to explore and observe their environment. They will analyze and relate this info to the taught concepts of: Geology, oceanography, meteorology, and astronomy ( the four basic branches of earth science).
