The Humanities Department

Mission Statement for the Department

The Humanities Department at Socorro High School is represented by three disciplines: Foreign Language, Art, and Music.  Students are trained “to perform” whether it is an oral presentation in a language, display of a finished project in art, or a musical recital.

Information About The Department

More and more all disciplines are being asked to develop techniques so that the students become more engaged in what they are learning.  We, the Humanities Department are “the hands on” department.  From learning to speak a language, developing drawing techniques to rehearsing for a musical concert on a daily basis, students do feel that they are involved.  Our goal is that through their participation and efforts, they gain a sense of accomplishment and a thirst to learn more.
